A Chesapeake Christian School Band '25-'26
Welcome back CCS Band Members!! It's time to dust off the instruments, toot a few notes, and find your Band Book to get ready for another awesome year of praising our Lord and Savior with our music!
Last year's Band did an incredible job with learning to play an instrument to the level of being able to perform in the annual Christmas and Spring Concerts AND for Field Day!
This year we're hoping to add:
- The annual Easton Olde Tyme Holiday Parade on Saturday, December 6 with line up by 5:45 PM for the 6:30 PM start.
- Advanced students may also opt to prepare a solo or ensemble (duet, trio, etc..) piece from the Maryland Band Directors Association list to be judged at the Eastern Shore Band Directors Association Solo & Ensemble Festival. Students earning a top rating qualify to move on to be adjudicated and possibly earn a medal at the State level!
A Music & Arts representative will be at the Back To School night on Thursday, Aug 28. The rep can take an instrument back to the shop for repair or have valve oil and reeds to sell. Please let me know if you need your instrument serviced.
Lessons will be held on Wednesdays on a rotating schedule. It's important to remember that students are responsible to find out what assignments they missed and to complete the missing work and turn it it on time. Being able to attend lessons and rehearsals during the school day is an incredible opportunity for students!
In addition to a weekly lesson, an ensemble time will be offered for Advanced Students twice a month on the 2nd & 4th Thursdays after school from 3:00-3:45 PM. Students will need to be picked up no later than 4 PM. This is not required but will be offered to help students build their musical skills and improve their technical performance and sometimes it's more fun to practice with others than by yourself. Beginners will be invited to participate once they complete page 21 in their book.
The cost for lessons this year will remain at $40 per month and are again due the first Wednesday of each month.
The first lesson for returning students will start the 2nd week of school, Wednesday, Sept 10 and the September after school sessions will be held Thursday, Sept 11 and Thursday, September 25.
New beginners will start the 1st Wednesday, September 3 as many will be receiving their new instrument at the Open House and I want them to know how to put their instrument together and make good sounds.
If you have additional questions I can be reached by email, texts or phone calls. The first time contacting me by phone please send a text or leave a voice message as I don't usually answer phone calls from numbers I don't recognize.
I'm looking forward to a great year with returning and new students!
